New flameless wax candles

Check out these new Enjoy Lighting flameless wax candles. There are designed for use outdoors as you don't have to worry about the flame blowing out.

In a nutshell the flameless wax candles are made from wax and flicker and cast light like a real candle, but they actually use a LED technology and are run of AA batteries. They also have an timer so you can set them turn off at whatever time suits you!

I am a big fan of real candles myself, but I think these would be really handy for those times when a normal candle just isn't practical.

They are available from leading gift and homewares stores including Wheel and Barrow, The Signature Series pillar candles range in price from $39.95 to $74.95 or you can check them out at www.enjoylighting.com.au.

Art is in your jeans

Are you the kind of person who loves nothing more than to stand out from the crowd? If so you definitely need to check these jeans out.

OHARA have collaborated with local Australian artist, Brian Chisholm, to create these really unique arty jeans. Each pair is hand painted and produced to order and can be in white, black or blue denim.

You can also choose which colours you want more or less of and each pair is completely unique. I am not sure if I could pull these off, but I am sure there are a lot of stylish perthites out there who could rock these.

They are made of light-weight denim so could definitely become a statement piece in your summer wardrobe! Find out more here: http://oharadesigns.com/O-Hara-Blog/ohara-designer-jeans

This week I am reading...

What on Earth are You Wearing?: A Michipedia of FashionThis week I am reading What on Earth are you Wearing - A Michipedia of Fashion. What  bizarre but completely quirky fun little book! It's a spin off from the Michi Girl website - www.michigirl.com.au.

In a nutshell Michi is a completely fictional character, but writes books and sends out daily email updates about fashion and weather! I spoke to one of the authors the other day and will keep you posted when that interview appears.

A quirky Christmas gadget

For me Christmas isn't complete without eating my body-weight in cherries. It seems Christmas is the only time of year you can really get cherries in WA without them costing an arm, leg and perhaps an eye.

That's why I thought the release of this new whizz-bang little gadget seems appropriate. Chef'n QuickPit (try saying that five times fast) is a slightly wacky new device basically built just to help you remove pitts from your cherries (or olives). If you absolutely can't go on without owning your own cherry de-pipper head on down to David Jones as they are available there now for $19.95.

WIN! Tix to Love & Other Drugs

Be one of the first people in Perth to see Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal in Love & Other Drugs! I saw this movie the other week in the new Readings Belmont Gold Lounge (more on that in another post) and really enjoyed it. Although it wasn't the movie I expected - more drama than romantic comedy - it was very moving and always engaging.

This movie releases this Thursday. If you'd like to win a double in-season pass, just hit comment below and tell us what (legal) drugs you're most grateful for and why! Too easy!! The most creative answers will win. Also make sure you leave us a way to contact you so we can let you know you've won!

We have a heap of passes to give away so go ahead and get commenting. In-season passes will get you and a friend into most screenings at most WA cinemas at a time of your choice, although some conditions of use are listed on the ticket. Winners will be drawn this weekend, so make sure you get in quick.

ABOUT THE MOVIE:
Anne Hathaway plays Maggie, an alluring free spirit who won’t let anyone – or anything – tie her down. But she meets her match in Jamie (Jake Gyllenhaal), whose relentless and nearly infallible charm serve him well with the ladies and in the cutthroat world of pharmaceutical sales. Maggie and Jamie’s evolving relationship takes them both by surprise, as they find themselves under the influence of the ultimate drug: love. Also stars Gabriel Macht, Judy Greer, Oliver Platt, Hank Azaria. Based on the book Hard Sell: The Evolution of a Viagra Salesman.

On my Christmas list

I seem to be writing about kikki.K a lot lately (don't worry I'm not on the take, just a tad obsessed). Thought I'd share this new recipe folder - this one's on my Christmas wish list although I hadn't seen it in red before.

Apparently this one is a special limited edition version just for the festive season, which of course just makes me want it even more!

A new religion?

This is an actual photo of a sign outside a church in Joondalup, Western Australian taken yesterday. What do we think? Is this a fantastic attempt by a church to incorporate contemporary culture into religion or is this just a completely inappropriate sentiment for a place of worship?

You tell me, I can't decide. I am not an overly religious person and I just found it a little well, wrong, but what do I know? Perhaps if more churches like this more young people today would be going along. Perhaps the choir will be singing Eminem.

Best idea for the boys

At first glance this ring may seem a bit odd, but it's really the perfect gift idea for the man in your life that has everything. It's the antidote to never having a beer opener on hand, because IT IS a beer opener AND a ring.

Function and fashion all in one for $9.95. That’s cheaper than a 6 pack! Available now from Deacon.

Cute gift ideas from Dusk

Love these cute gift ideas from Dusk. I am a big fan of candles as Christmas stocking-stuffer. I think the novelty Santa candle on the right would also be great used as part of Christmas table centrepiece!

kikki.K release a fashion planner

I think kikki.K are the bomb for stylish stationary, but what happens when they partner with the L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival?

As part of this ongoing partnership kikki.K has created a limited edition Fashion Planner ($14.95), to help you organise your style.  For busy fashion-savvy professionals the dilemma of choosing an outfit can become a daily nightmare. That's why kikki.K founder Krostina Karlsson decided to create this daily planner.

“Over the years we have created tools to organise many aspects of people’s lives, but never their wardrobes," she says. "Often when I have a busy week ahead with meetings, work functions and events I find that I can save myself time and stress by planning my outfits in advance.

"Rather than just scribbling down outfits in my diary, I thought it would be a great idea to create a notebook that specifically caters to this need."

The Fashion Planner features a six month day-by-day fashion log in ‘Outfits To Wear’, and prompts you to rediscover old favourites and items to recycle with a ‘Seasonal Wardrobe Audit’. It also includes pages to document your fashion wishlist in ‘Objects of Desire’ and encourages you to capture blogs, designers and trends in ‘Inspiration’.

Find your nearest kikki.K or shop online www.kikki-k.com.

A clever movie promo

I do like it when people try to get a bit more creative with their marketing strategies. In this clip a trailer for upcoming animated film Tangled becomes a commercial for new product 'Rapunzhair'. Very well done.

Tangled hits cinemas on January 6.

The Kardashians tell all ... again

As if we didn't known enough of the personal nitty gritty details of the lives of the three Kardashian sisters, we will now be able to go out and buy their new tell all autobiography!

Whether you love them or hate them, there’s no doubt that Kourtney, Kim and Khloé have become pop culture icons. Not only have they had two successful reality TV shows they also attract six million visitors a month to their websites.

Apparently this book will share such must have secrets as to how well the sister get along to "fun facts about their childhoods, their beauty and style secrets, the wisdom they learned from their beloved and famous lawyer father, and the street smarts they learned from day one from their mother."

This book goes on sale December 20 and will be $35. So now confession time. Do you love the Kardashians? Will you be bad mouthing this book while secretly buying a copy for your 'sister'? Are you an out and proud Kardashian lover? We want to hear about it. Hit comment below and tell us all!
